One potentiel obstacle of getting the new house is out of the way.

One contingency of us getting that house was the seller getting a replacement house. We found out today that they have done so. We also found out that the Realtor talked to the appraiser and was told that the selling price will not be (or maybe it was "should not be") a problem from the standpoint of the appraisal. Those were the two contingencies that we had no control over. Hopefully we will know something about the appraisal soon. More as things develop.
